My Goals and Objectives

To assist students to recognize the many facets of a multicultural

environment and understand the positive aspects of

diversity.

To expose students to the various aspects of Portuguese culture

and contributions made by both Portuguese language and culture

worldwide.

(In order to do so, historical, geographical and personal

events shall be identified)

To introduce the Portuguese language according to the

three levels:

beginner-intermediate-advanced.

On each level the goal is to enrich the students vocabulary

and facilitate communication.

To enhance the student's self-esteem and the understanding

of the importance and worth of one's heritage.

To assist them into understanding the importance of

communication and the positive aspects of being able to express

themselves in more than one language.

To encourage them to express themselves trough a variety of

ways, including mime, drama, singing and dancing.

(Using Portuguese traditional music, songs, legends etc.)

To encourage the students to correctly read and write, simple

texts, stories, poems etc.- according to their level.

The midi is called "Alto da serra" and it's a traditional melody

from the Province of Estremadura, in the centre of Portugal.

It was beautifully sequenced by Fernando Brito Vintem

and you can visit Midi Portugal for more great compositions.
